About Us

Canada-Pakistan Association of the National Capital Region (CPA-NCR) is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1972 by a small dedicated group of Canadians of Pakistani origin. The name of the association ‘The Canada-Pakistan Association of the National Capital Region’ is unique in the sense that it puts “Canada” first as oppose to almost every other Pakistani association across Canada which start with “Pakistan Canada Association……”

The Canada-Pakistan Association is one of the oldest institutions for Canadians of Pakistani origin in Ottawa. It is the only institution in Ottawa, unlike in other cities of Canada, most of which have two or three organizations, and in some cases over dozens. The Pakistani people of Ottawa have always believed in staying united through one association, and will continue to focus on keeping this institution intact.

Our mandate is to celebrate, preserve and promote the cultural and religious identity of Pakistan while being positive contributors to the multicultural mosaic of Canada.  We celebrate 5 major events during the year: Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Republic Day of Pakistan, Independence Day of Pakistan and Canada Day.  In addition to organizing events we also aid new immigrants settle in the National Capital Region and provide educational and volunteer opportunities for Pakistani-Canadian youth.
